Cyber Security Insurance Explainer

Client
Loman-Ray Insurance, Inc.

Role
Conceptualization, creative direction, design, animation

Cyber security insurance helps protect companies from financial losses associated with cyber attacks. I worked with Loman-Ray to create a visually interesting and helpful explainer video to let folks know about this important coverage option through Loman-Ray.

Loman-Ray originally approached me for video production, but when they learned that I primarily do motion design, that sparked something in their imagination. With animation, you can tell stories you just can’t using a camera and a lens. They went to work to write a script and provided video of the hero of this story, Geoff Desmond, an insurance agent with Loman-Ray. With script in-hand, I worked with them to come up with a concept, visual direction, and animation for the project. The sound design was produced by freelance sound designer, emreokan.

Treatment + Moodboard

A treatment is basically a description of how I’m going to solve the problem. In this case, the problem is explaining cyber security insurance, something that only exists in theory, in an exciting visual way.

A moldboard supports the treatment, giving the reader an idea of what the visuals described will actually look like.

Sketches + Styleframes

Every animation starts with a rough sketch. This easy-to-ignore step is actually very important. It helps me give order to the ideas swirling wildly in my mind and informs each decision going forward.
